d 2012 was formed at the turn of the century the intention of creating it's own distinctive rock sound.
With it's members many influences the band was formed and began playing classic spanish rock covers by MANA, CAIFANES, HEROES DEL SILENCIO
The song MALDITA SOLEDAD was the first song written 2012. All the members participated in it's creation of the lyrics and melody from it's inception. Afterwards songs like SOLO POR AMOR and LA VIDA ES ASI began taking shape and taking on their own distinct "feeling". The lyrics of the songs are very important to the band. Each song has it's own story, at times based on
reality such as BAR TEOCALI or CARTAS A GABRIELA or sometimes based simply on an idea or phrase that connects with the listener. The music is not left behind take, for example, the "hook" on A DONDE VAN MIS REZOS, the intro to LA VIDA ES ASI, or the lead on MALDITA SOLEDAD.
After finshing the recent (8) song demo, we had the good fortune to have the song MALDITA SOLEDAD appear in a film by director JUAN FRAUSTO titled "LA MIGRA". It made it's debut at the CHICAGO LATINO FILM FESTIVAL. It will be released by Hollywood Video and
Blockbuster Video under the title "MURDER ON THE BORDER" towards the end of 2005
V 2012 is preparing to film the video for MALDITA SOLEDAD which will be included in the "extras" of the film. After recording the follow up CD which will have (6) to (8) songs and will include CARTAS A GABRIELA , BAR TEOCALI and IDEAL IREAL amongst others, the band is planning a brief tour beggining in Madison, Wisconsin.
